Department of Marine Science, University of Calcutta requires RA/JRF/FA/July 2011

Interested eligible candidates are requested to appear in an Walk-in-Interview on 
18.07.2011 in the office of the Head, Department of Marine Science, University of 
Calcutta, 35 Ballygunge Circular, Road, Kolkata – 700019 for selection of 1 RA (III), 2 
JRF and 2 Field Attendant in the project entitled “…Study of Carbon stock and response 
of estuarine phytoplankton to iron fertilization…”  under the supervision of Dr. Abhijit 
Mitra, Dept. of Marine Science, C.U. 
Tenure of the project: 3 years 
Qualification required: 
(a) Research Associate (III): M.Sc. (Marine Science), Ph.D. with sufficient experience
in marine related research. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the
sphere of carbon sequestration by floral community. Relevant publications in peerreviewed journals will be added advantage.
(b) JRF: Post Graduate in Marine Science / Environmental Science / Botany with
sufficient knowledge in phytoplankton ecology and carbon sequestration. NET/GATE
qualified candidates are preferred.
(c) FA: Sufficient knowledge in working Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem.
Fellowship: @ Rs.24,000/- for RA (III); Rs.12,000- for JRF+ Administrative allowances
as per norms of funding agency and also as per norms of C.U. For Field Attendant
Rs.4000/- (consolidated). Candidates are requested  to bring two complete sets of (i)
application furnishing biodata on plain paper (ii) attested copies of testimonials and (iii)
to originals at the time of interview.
