Qualification and Experience;
A Post-Graduate degree with at least 55% marks or its
equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale along with
1. at least 15 years’ experience as Assistant Professor
in the AGP of Rs 7000 and above or with 8 years of
service in the AGP of Rs.8000 and above including as
Associate Professor along with experience in
educational administration
or
2. Comparable experience in Defence, research
establishment and /or other institutions of higher
education.
or
3. 15 years of administrative experience of which 8
years shall be as Deputy Registrar or an
equivalent post.
Desirable:
Experience in Personnel/Finance/Materials Management,
Industrial relations, Campus Management and other aspects of
administration, preferably in a large educational or R&D
institution, a degree/PG Diploma in Law/Management and the
ability to enhance and sustain computerized administration
with innovation. An engineering degree in Mechanical, Civil
or Architecture would also be desirable. Proven qualities and
all round ability to coordinate and lead team of officers with a
variety of expertise.

NIT, Durgapur
The Institute is located about 160 KMs north-west of Kolkata on the Howrah-Delhi Main Railway-Route and overlooking the National Highway No. 2(the great Grand- Trunk Road). The Institute spreads over an area of 187 acres of land. It is fully residential and co-educational. NIT Durgapur has all the facilities of world class academic institute. The campus layout is having picturesque landscape with clean and wide roads and pathways. The campus provides all essential amenities for community living, Staff & Faculty Clubs, Shopping Complex & Canteen, Health Centre, Bank, ATM, Post Office, Play Ground etc. At present about 3000 boys and 500 girls reside in seven boys' hostels and three girls' hostels. The annual undergraduate intake is more than 900 students.
General Conditions
The Institute reserves the right to cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason. The prescribed essential qualification & experience are minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. If the number of applications received in response to advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible for the Selection Committee to interview all those candidates. So, the Screening Committee of the Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of desirable qualification and / or experience prescribed in the advertisement as per the specific recruitment of the Institute. No correspondence will be entertained with candidates who are not called for interview/selected for appointment. CANVASSING IN ANY FORM WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF CANDIDATURE.Legal disputes, if any, with National Institute of Technology are restricted to Durgapur Court Only.

NIT Durgapur is a residential Institute where majority of the
students, faculty members & staff reside in the campus.
Prescribed application forms may be obtained from the
office of the Registrar (Incharge), NIT, Durgapur,
Mahatma Gandhi Avenue, Durgapur-713209, West
Bengal. Reserved category candidates shall be required to
submit attested copies of the latest (not older than six
months from the closing date of the advertisement) Cast
certificate issued by the competent authority (not below the
rank of SDO/SDM) as per Govt. of India directives issued
from time to time. Similarly, PH candidates shall be
required to submit proof of Physically Handicapped
category issued by the competent medical authority.
Age relaxation for reserved category candidates and
ExService personnel will be as per Govt. of India rules.
Candidates called for the interview will be reimbursed to &
fro railway fare limited to AC-II Sleeper Class by the
shortest route as per rule.

Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, NIT Durgapur
payable at SBI, R.E College Branch, Durgapur-713209.
SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from paying any
application fee.
Applications will be received upto 12th
September 2011.
The institute reserves the right to reject any or all
applications or it may amend any of the clauses above as
per orders of the competent authority/Govt. of India.
Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected and no
communication in this regard shall be entertained.
