ANNUAL TRAINING PROGRAMME IN BLOOD BANKING
The training programme is an orientation course for Medical Officers and Laboratory Technicians currently working in blood banks.The course is designed to provide indepth knowledge in blood banking procedures. The following are the topics expected to be covered during the course. - Principles of Immunohaematology and Principles of Human Genetics in general and blood groups in particular.
- Red cell serology
(i) ABO, Rh and other blood groups.
(ii) Crossmatching procedures.
(iii) Detection of atypical antibodies.
(iv) Investigations of transfusion reaction.
(v) Antenatal and postnatal serology.
- Quality control of blood group reagents.
- Other topics related to blood banking.
Information for Medical Officers(i) Preservation of blood.
(ii) Blood components.
(iii) Hepatitis and AIDS.
(iv) HLA system.
(v) Immunoglobulins.
(vi) Red cell enzymes.
(vii) Abnormal hemoglobins.
Qualifications : M.B.B.S. of a recognised University with at least two years experience in blood banking.
Sponsorship:Government/Semi Govt/Municipal hospitals sponsoring the candidates will have to pay Rs.3000/- as tuition fees and private hospitals sponsoring candidates will have to pay Rs.5000/- as tuition fees. The tuition fees must be submitted by the selected candidates on the first day of the training course, in the form of demand draft, made payable to the Director, National Institute of Immunohaematology. T.A. and D.A. etc to be borne by sponsoring institutions.
Information for Technicians:
Qualification :B.Sc or H.S.C with 10 years experience in Blood Bank. B.Sc.DMLT candidates will be given preference
Sponsorship: Government/Semi Govt./Municipal Hospitals sponsoring the candidates will have to pay Rs.1500/-as tuition fees and private hospitals sponsoring the candidates will have to pay Rs 3000/- as tuition fees . The tuition fees must be submitted by the selected candidates on the first day of the training course, in the form of demand draft, made payable to the Director, National Institute of Immunohaematology T.A and D.A. etc. to be borne by sponsoring institutions.
Applicable to both Medical Officers and Laboratory Technicians :
Bond: Candidates are required to give a bond on stamp paper to serve his/her Institution for a period of 3 years after the completion of training . The bond should be countersigned by the Head of the Institution and a copy of the bond should be sent to us alongwith the application form. (For Government employees only).
Boarding : Candidates should make their own boarding and lodging arrangements during their stay, though Institute may provide some assistance to acquire hostel accommodation.
Forwarding: Completed application forms along with a copy of the bond and the necessary certificates should be forwarded by the Head of the Institution so as to reach us by 1 st June 2011. Technicians and Doctors coming together for training from the same blood bank will be given preference. The duration of the training courses are as under :
