Consolidated salary range: Between Rs.16000-22000 per month
Qualifications : B.E./B.Tech. (Computer Science or Information Technology preferred) or M.C.A.
with one year experience or B.Sc. (IT preferred) with two years experience. IT
related certification is desirable.
Description of job :
The Departments are spread over two separate buildings and is connected to the Institute net on a switch located in one of the buildings. The Departments have two localized computing stations where a large number of PCs and workstations are located. UGs, PGs and Project staff mostly use these. Faculty computers and computers in laboratory are scattered over various rooms and around experimental set-ups in the labs.
The incumbent is expected to look after all these systems.
Nature of job:
User configuration tasks, performing back-ups, configuring network, configuring and managing E-mail services on server, debugging faults and optimizing network, installing/upgrading of OS products, troubleshooting and upgrading of PCs, assisting users, updating the departmental web page.
Experience(Desirable)2+ years of GNU/Linux as a System administrator. Should have worked on Linux and SUN, HP and SGI and digital machines. Experience in networking and installation of packages. Experience in web page design may as additional qualification. Capability of setting up and managing complex sites, managing DNS,Networking, Mail and mailing list server. Maintaining backup system working with a large number of users and installation & maintenance of a variety of operating systems (linux + windows) & software.
