Research Fellowships
A certain number of JRFs get chance to do Ph.D. at this institute. The candidate should be MSc or equivalent degree, with minimum 55% marks after qualifying the National Eligibility Test ( NET) conducted by CSIR twice in a year The candidates who have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET), conducted by CSIR may approach Institute for JRF. The candidate is expected to register for Ph.D degree within a period of one year from the date of joining. The stipend of a JRF selected through the all India test will be Rs 16000/- plus HRA per month for a period of 2 years. After two years the JRF are upgraded as SRF on the basis of their performance. In addition, annual contingent grant of Rs. 20,000/- per fellow will be provided..
CSIR has introduced a new research fellowship in 2002 for the GATE qualified candidates with BE/ BTech/ BArch/ BPharm degree to pursue research leading to PhD. This will be known as the GATE qualified Junior Research Fellowship (JRF-GATE). JRF’s selected under this scheme will have excellent opportunity to work with the CSIR scientists with state-of-art R&D facility and obtain PhD degree. Fresh BE/ B Tech degree holders with valid GATE score may apply .The candidates will have to pursue Ph.D. MTech candidates (either with BTech/ MTech or with MSc/ MTech) are not eligible for this fellowship. The fellowship is to be given to a candidate for a total duration of five years within which the candidate is required to complete the PhD degree. This fellowship amount is Rs 16000/- plus HRA per month. In addition, contingency grant of Rs 20,000/- per annum is available.
A certain number of RA-ships may be awarded each year directly by CSIR to young research workers who have shown promise in original research and propose to pursue research work in science, engineering, medicine or technology on specific projects. The Associate will do full time research work on problems stated in his/her application and approved by CSIR. Under this scheme, persons possessing Doctorate (PhD/MD/MS/MDS) or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/MPharm/ME/MTech will be eligible for award as RA.
