The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage one project consultant on contractual basis initially for a period of one year. Applications are invited for the same and only short listed candidates will be called for the interview, likely to be held in April 2011. Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information or any other reason. Studies on housing and enclosure enrichment of some species in selected Indian zoos.

(01-Project Consultant)

Duration: One year.

Essential Qualification

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. Degree in Wildlife Science/Zoology from a recognised University.

Desirable Qualification

Candidate with a Ph.D. Degree in the field of Wildlife Science/Conservation will be given preference. Candidate must possess documented research experience of working in the field of animal ecology, behavioural science and must have an understanding of management of captive animals and ex-situ conservation.

Project Description

The study aims to develop guidelines which will help the zoos in India to provide appropriate housing and enclosure enrichment for captive animals.

Tasks Description

The selected candidate is expected to develop an appropriate study design for the project.
Assist in carrying out the field study.
Develop species specific enrichment protocols and assess their efficacy.
To provide scientific input and assistance to the Captive Breeding and Zoo Management Cell (CBZM) of the Institute.
Any other task assigned by the Nodal Officer, CBZM/Dean/Director of the Institute.

GENERAL
The tenure of the selected candidate (Project Consultant) will be initially for a period of one year initially, which can be extended further on the basis of requirement of the project.
Candidate for the advertised position of Project Consultant should not be more than 50 years of age. Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years, as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, physically handicapped applicants.
Selected candidate (Project Consultant) will be paid a consolidated sum of ` 32,000.00 (all inclusive) and taxes as applicable will be deducted at source.
The selection of the candidate will be based on interview likely to be held in April 2011 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. All original documents should be produced at the time of interview.
Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
Applications should be submitted on or before 11th April 2011, in prescribed format with attested true copies of testimonials of qualifications, experience, date of birth, caste etc. along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations.
Candidates working in other Organizations/Universities should send their applications through proper channel. However, candidates are advised to ensure timely receipt of application at the Institute by sending an advance copy. In such cases the candidates will have to produce `No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview.
Applications received after due date/without enclosures/incomplete in any respect shall be liable to rejection.
