Bose Institute, founded in 1917 by Sir Jagadis Chandra Bose, is a premier institution for
basic and applied research in Physical and Biological Sciences as well as inter-disciplinary

We currently have several openings at the levels of  Faculty Fellow (Tenure Tract) (Pay 

Band III : Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with grade pay 6,600), Assistant Professor (Pay Band III - 

Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with grade pay Rs. 7,600), Associate Professor and  Professor ( Pay 

Band IV: Rs. 37,400 – 67,000with grade pay Rs.8,700 and Rs. 8,900, respectively) plus DA 

and other allowances, as admissible to the Central Government employees posted in Kolkata. 

We are looking for highly motivated, competent scientists of Indian Nationality with 

established credentials and Ph.D. in respective area (Faculty fellow), Ph.D. with at least four 

years’ post doctoral research experience (Assistant professor), Ph.D. with at least eight years’ 

post doctoral research experience including evidence of independent research (Associate 

Professor) and established scientists with proven credentials for independent research and 

leadership (Professor). While applications in all areas  of research pursued at Bose Institute 

would be considered, preference would be given to candidates whose expertise and interest 

would strengthen and/or complement the ongoing programmes. These comprise plan 

Institutional progarmmes: (i) Improvement of Plants: Biotechnological, Genomic and 

Proteomic Approach; ((ii) Protein Structure, Function and Engineering; (iii) Bioinformatics 

and Computational Biology; (iv) Molecular Medicine; (v) Microbial Genomics and Infection 

Biology; (vi) Development of Systems Biology and (vii) Basic and Applied Problems in 

Physical Sciences. 

The selection process would continue until all available vacancies are filled. Interested

4 senior scientists who have agreed to serve as confidential referees, a brief description of
research experience and a concise plan of the proposed  research to be pursued at Bose

Bose Institute, Kolkata is a Central Autonomous Institute founded by Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose in 1917.  This is one of the premier Scientific Research Institutes in India.  It is fully funded by the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.  The main objective of the Institute is to carryout research on both Physical & Biological Sciences.

  

The Director, Bose Institute, Kolkata, invites applications from bonafide Indian Citizens for the following post.  The post carries DA & other allowances as admissible to a Central Govt. employee posted in Kolkata.  PF and other retirement benefits will be regulated as per Central Government Rules.   

            Workshop Superintendent  :        One (1) post (Unreserved)

            Pay Band + Grade Pay           :        PB-3, ` 15600-39100/- + GP ` 5400/-

         Essential Qualification               :        Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering

                                                                       from a recognized University or its equivalent or Master’s

                                                                      degree with appropriate specialization.  5 years experience in

                                                                      the field to be specified.

            Desirable Qualification           :        Experience of working in an organization manufacturing

                                                                        scientific instruments with computer exposure.

            Age                                         :        Below 35 years.  (Relaxation as per Government Rules)

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:

1.     The post will be available on and from 1^st December, 2011.

2.     Up-to-date curriculum vitae of the applicant should be submitted as an attachment (as pdf file only) with the online application form so as to reach by 14.00 hrs. IST. on 15-09-2011.

RECRUITMENT OF INSTITUTE  JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW AND RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Bose Institute invites applications for the recruitment of Junior Research Fellow (not more than eighteen) under Institutional Programmes – (i) Structure, Function and Engineering of Protein, (ii)Bioinformatics and Computational biology, (iii)  Molecular Medicine, (iv) Microbial Genomics and Infection Biology, (v) Development of Systems Biology and (vi) Basic and Applied Problems in Physical and Environmental Sciences. Consistent academic records with a good M. Sc. / M.Tech. Degree in any branch of Physical, Chemical or Biological sciences with NET / GATE qualifications. Students appeared for theM.Sc. / M.Tech Examination may also apply. However, they can be appointed if selected provided the degree is awarded before the date of interview. Selected students are required to go for an orientation of three months in at least three laboratories after which they will be placed in a particular laboratory after mutual discussion with any of the faculty member. Students are also required to complete course work successfully during the period before applying for Ph.D. Registration. A few (2-3) position of RAs may be available for Ph.D. degree holder candidates in Physical/Chemical/Biological Sciences. . FELLOWSHIP / ASSCIATESHIP  : Rs. 12,000/- p.m.(JRF) (GATE / NET-LS qualified candidates) andRs. 16,000/ p.m. (NET-JRF qualified candidates) , Rs. 22,000/ p.m. ( RA), plus admissible HRA and Medical benefit.AGE : Below 28 years (JRF), 35 years ( RA)  (relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC/WOMEN candidates only).
